Instructions

  • Begin by thoroughly washing the Sona Masoori rice and then draining it.
  • Transfer the drained rice into the inner pot of your Instant Pot.
  • Pour in 2.5 cups of water over the rice.
  • Secure the lid on the Instant Pot, ensuring that the valve is set to the SEALED position.

  • Once the cooking cycle is complete and the Instant Pot signals with a beep, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes.
  • After the natural release, perform a Quick Release to let out any remaining steam.
  • Open the lid carefully, then gently fluff the rice with a fork.
  • Serve the rice hot and enjoy.

Notes

The cooking time for rice can vary based on the age of the rice, the altitude of your location, and the rice variety. This recipe has been tested using a 6-quart Instant Pot. For softer rice suitable for curd rice, adjust the water ratio to 1 cup of rice to 3 cups of water.
To store, keep the cooked rice in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze it for up to 2-3 months. When reheating, you can microwave the rice in a covered container with a few splashes of water. Alternatively, add the cold rice to boiling water for one minute and then drain; this method is my preferred choice.
