Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour
Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken wings split with tips removed (36 pieces)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
  • cup butter melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 4-6 dashes Tobasco hot sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your oven to 425°F. Ensure the wings are thoroughly dried using a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.
  • In a large bowl, combine the wings with baking powder, flour, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Toss until the wings are evenly coated with the mixture.
  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil and placing parchment paper on top. Arrange the wings in a single, even layer on the sheet.
  • Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Afterward, flip them over and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the wings achieve a crispy and golden-brown finish.
  • While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, fresh parsley, seasoned salt, black pepper, and hot sauce.
  • Once the wings are cooked, toss them with half of the prepared sauce, ensuring they are well coated.
  • Increase the oven temperature to 475°F, then return the wings to the oven and bake for another 8-10 minutes. This will allow them to become even more golden and crispy. For an extra crispy finish, you may broil them for the last couple of minutes.
  • Finally, remove the wings from the oven and toss them with the remaining sauce. Garnish with additional parmesan and fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Garlic: You can opt for either garlic powder or fresh garlic. We prefer garlic powder as it lends a more subtle flavor, while fresh garlic tends to be more intense.
Once cooked, these wings can be:
  • Tossed in the sauce and served immediately
  • Tossed in the sauce and baked further to achieve a browned parmesan crust
Personally, I like to coat the wings in half of the sauce and bake them again to get a crispy, cheesy coating, then toss them with the remaining sauce before serving.
Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings: For air frying, season the wings with salt and pepper (skip the flour and baking powder). Arrange them in a single layer and air fry at 400°F for 20-22 minutes until they’re golden and crisp. Toss the wings with half of the sauce, then air fry for an additional 2-4 minutes. Finally, toss them with the remaining sauce and serve.
